Auto Racing: Jesson wins close finish in Superstocks at HiWay 92 Raceway
GERING —There were several close races at the HiWay 92 Raceway this past weekend with the main event winners also capturing the trophy dash honors. Racing is scheduled to continue this Saturday with the Minions, Bandoleros, Warriors, Limited Late Models, Vintage and the Legends in action. There will be fireworks after the races.
Henry H. Meter 1931 - 2024
GERING, Neb. — Henry H. Meter, 93, of Gering, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Gering Zion Church in Gering, Neb., with Pastor Tim Hebbert officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at Bridgman Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of any flowers, memorials in Henry’s honor have been established in care of the church. Bacteria are growing in the Plant Pathology Lab, but the bacteria have nothing to do with plants but the kind of bacteria you might find on your teeth. The lab typically grows pathogens Dr. Bob Harveson, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Plant Pathologist at the Panhandle Research Extension and Education Center in Scottsbluff, is researching. This month, though, it is also hosting dental hygienist students from the UNMC College of Dentistry with Dental Hygiene West Division in Gering.

MORRLL – Wanda was born on December 13, 1941, in Sparta, North Carolina passed away quietly on June 28, 2024, after a long battle with illness. Cremation has taken place. She grew up in the Smokey Mountains in a family that didn’t have much, but they were never poor. Her parents were Grover Cleveland Adams and Effie Laura (Atwood) Adams and her siblings Viola, Mabel, Betty, Ben, Robert “Ace”, Everett, Page, Dorothy, and Peggy. She married Mack Scott on June 15, 1958, and they were the proud parents of four boys Mark, Mike, Matthew, and Marty.

Alliance Man Takes a Plea Deal
One of the two Alliance men arrested in a March traffic stop in Gering has struck a plea deal to avoid standing trial. 26-year-old Moses Dawn and 43-year-old passenger Marco Dubray were pulled over on Birch Street in Gering, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a bag of suspected methamphetamine, a scale and baggies, and a pair of brass knuckles.
