Court affirms conviction, sentence of Lyman man who stabbed officer
The Nebraska Court of Appeals has affirmed the convictions and sentence of man convicted of stabbing a Lyman Police officer. Jeremy Torres appealed his felony convictions on charges of attempted first-degree murder, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and tampering with a witness.

Park Ranger Eric Graves to Present “Cutoffs: More Than a Fashion Statement” at Scotts Bluff National Monument
Join Park Ranger Eric Graves in the amphitheater behind the Scotts Bluff National Monument visitor center at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5th for a talk about overland trail cutoffs. Some of these cutoffs saved time or brought the traveler to superior grazing or water. Others proved to be a disaster by delaying emigrants with rough terrain or leading them away from water and grazing. In Scotts Bluff National Monument, we have a cut-off, Mitchell Pass. In the event of inclement weather, the program will move inside to the visitor center theater.

The Purchasing Agent of the City of Torrington, acting as agent for the Mayor and Council of the City of Torrington, Wyoming, has accepted all work as complete according to the Contract Documents set forth in the written Agreement between J-Built Homes, Inc. and the Mayor and Council of the City of Torrington, dated the 2nd day of May, 2024, for the FY24 – Pioneer Drive, J-Built Homes, Inc., Contractor, is entitled to final payment therefor, and on the 6th day of August, 2024, the 41st day after the first publication of this notice final payment of the full amount due under the Agreement will be made. Nothing in this notice shall be construed as relieving the Contractor and the Sureties on its bond from any claim or claims for the work or labor done or materials or supplies furnished in the execution of the Agreement. All persons having claims for labor and materials furnished the Contractor shall present a verified statement of the amount due and unpaid on account of the same to the City prior to the day specified for final payment. Failure on the part of the claimant to file such statement will relieve the City from any and all liability on such claim.
