Dubuque Community Schools Change Policy For Employees During Virtual Days
Staff member in the Dubuque Community School District will have greater flexibility when it comes to where they work during virtual days. Last week, the school board approved staff to work from home during designated virtual days when the weather is bad. Previously, staff was required to report to work in-person, an employee who couldn’t make it in to work had to use a leave day.

Newt Marine Service Wins $22.7 million Illinois River Dredge Project
Dubuque Barge and Fleeting Service Co., doing business as Newt Marine Service,* Dubuque, Iowa, was awarded a $22,693,700 firm-fixed-price contract for mechanical dredging along the Illinois River. Bids were solicited via the internet with two received. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of Dec. 31, 2029. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island, Illinois, is the contracting activity (W912EK-24-D-0004).

Bike Lanes Coming To Area Of Downtown Dubuque
The City of Dubuque’s first bicycle lanes will be coming soon to some of the downtown area. Sometime next month, the bicycle lane pilot project will appear on portions of Ninth Street going downhill from Bluff Street to the east and a parallel section of 10th Street going back uphill to the west a block away. The two sections will be connected by pavement marked for shared bicycle-car traffic going north and south on Main and Elm Streets.
Dubuque Man Arrested For Drug Possession
A Dubuque Man was arrested on Drug Possession charges Friday. According to the Dubuque Police Department, 55 year old Kurt Welter was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Friday on Twin Valley Drive on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dupaco Credit Union Asbury Location To Close
Dupaco Community Credit Union will be closing its Asbury location on Saratoga Road later this year. Dupaco says the branch is being closed starting October 1st due to low traffic at the location and the number of other branches available nearby in the Dubuque area. Dupaco says current Asbury branch employees will be relocated to other Dupaco locations.
