A new generation of firefighters
On July 13, Southwestern College graduated the next generation of firefighters from the Fire Technology program at the SWC Public Safety Training Center. Lorraine Hutchinson, retired deputy chief of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and program director of the Southwestern College Fire Academy led the ceremonies. Robert Logan, who was recently appointed by San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, as the next fire chief of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department was the keynote speaker.

Karrie Jackson has been teaching CoSA Visual Arts for 13 years and was a student herself in the program’s first year, 1995. While Jackson attended Coronado High School (CHS), she was also a member of the varsity softball team. North Island Credit Union Provides Back-to-School Backpacks & Supplies
San Diego, CA – July, 2024 – North Island Credit Union has partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego to make the new school year a little bit easier for hundreds of Club kids and their families. In the fourth year of the partnership, the credit union recently provided approximately 300 backpacks filled with school supplies to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego as part of its annual Back 2 School Drive.
