2 Local Fire Departments Awarded Funding for Equipment, Training and Supplies
UTICA, N.Y. -- A few upstate fire departments in New York will soon receive a total of $665,310.24 in federal funding. The funding, which was announced by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, will support nine fire departments by providing protective gear, training and supplies for emergency personnel.

New literacy program offered in Buffalo, health and digital
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Literacy Buffalo Niagara announced on Thursday they will offer more literacy opportunities including digital and health programs. In Western New York, 1470,000 people were reported have low literacy rates which is typically linked to poverty and poor health conditions. Data shows that 50% of the chronically unemployed are 'functionally literate' and 76% of adults on public assistance are at some of the lowest literacy levels.
29 Student-Athletes Receive Long Island Junior Soccer League Scholarships
The Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL), the largest league in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA), has the largest scholarship program in Eastern New York. The league distributed 29 scholarships at the LIJSL Scholarship Breakfast on Sunday, July 21 at the Huntington Hilton.
