INDIANAPOLIS — Cole Custer will return to NASCAR Cup Series racing in 2025 as the NASCAR Xfinity Series driver officially announced his plans with Haas Factory Team. Alexis Rocha claims NABO title with 25th career victory
In a back-and-forth action fight, Santa Ana’s Alexis “Lex” Rocha (25-2, 16 KOs) became the new NABO Welterweight Titleholder. Rocha handed Santiago Dominguez (27-1, 20 KOs) of Ciudad Obregon, Mexico his first-ever loss as the headlining event of Golden Boy Fight Night on DAZN. The 10-round welterweight regional title match showed a tactical Rocha who broke down a tough and resilient Dominguez by carefully plotting his punches. Dominguez was able to keep up with Rocha, getting Rocha with a medley of tough blows throughout the match. The judges scored the bout unanimously for Rocha with scores of 99-91, 98-92 and 99-91. The event took place at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and was broadcast worldwide on DAZN.

All 27 San Clemente High School varsity teams qualified for academic distinction from the CIF-SS for the 2023-24 seasons. Collectively, the teams finished with an average unweighted GPA of 3.61. Twenty teams finished in the top 25 of the CIF-SS; 11 in the top 10; and four in the top five.

IRVINE, Calif. – Recent UC Irvine men’s track & field graduate Josh Farmer will represent the United States at the 2024 Thorpe Cup, July 20-21, in Wetzlar, Germany. The Thorpe Cup is an international track & field competition between the U.S. and Germany. Teams are composed of up to seven men and seven women who compete in the decathlon and heptathlon. Laguna Sports Update: 90 Years of Laguna Beach Football, part 3
The 43 Laguna Beach High School football players returned home on July 14 and resumed their summer training program. In Japan, they had a few practices in this district/CIF unsanctioned break to the summer training program with visits to Tokyo and Kyoto. Summer practice ends Aug. 1, with the first day of practice for the regular season on Aug. 5. The season opens with the Frosh on Aug. 22 and Varsity on Aug. 23 against St. Margaret’s.

The program earned All-Academic distinction with a 3.20 team GPA. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete's head coach must be a member of the ACWPC, while the athlete must attain a grade point average above 3.20.
