The Lady Lake Police Department is conducting a death investigation after a man was found dead in a golf cart. Lady Lake police officers at about 10 p.m. Sunday responded to the area of 1 LaGrande Blvd. on the Historic Side of The Villages and found a 59-year-old man deceased in a golf cart.
Bank robber hands note to teller demanding one cent
A bank robbery suspect was arrested after handing a teller a note demanding one cent. Michael Patrick Fleming, 41, of Summerfield, entered the Chase Bank on U.S. Hwy. 441 in Lady Lake at about 4 p.m. Saturday and filled out a withdrawal slip for one cent, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He handed the note to a teller.

A driver was arrested after striking three construction barriers on U.S. Hwy. 27/441. Repeat road rager nabbed at Publix sentenced to six months in jail
A repeat road rager nabbed last year at a Publix grocery store in The Villages has been sentenced to six months in jail. Grant Mitchell Patterson III, 32, of Belleview, pleaded no contest this past week in Sumter County Court to a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. In addition to six months in jail, he has been placed on probation for 30 months and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.
Woman in U.S. Illegally Accused of Raping Central Florida 12-Year-Old Boy
A 20-year-old woman living in the U.S. illegally has been accused of raping a Central Florida 12-year-old boy. Amanda Romero Maradiaga, of DeBary, was arrested and has been charged with lewd or lascivious battery of a 12-year-old boy. She allegedly raped the child at the boy’s father’s home in DeBary.

The prosecutor’s office announced in June that 62-year-old Mark Allen Pryor of the Water Oak community in Lady Lake won’t face prosecution on a charge of driving under the influence in connection with the incident in April at The Villages hospital, now known as UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital.

Leesburg man nabbed in Wildwood after late night traffic stop
A Leesburg man was arrested during a traffic stop in Wildwood when an officer discovered his license was suspended. An officer spotted a dark Kia sedan following closely to a vehicle and turning all functional lights on and off on the vehicle while approaching County Road 213 on Kilgore Street around 11:20 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. The officer conducted a lawful traffic stop as a result.
