Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy On300 receiver Daylan McCutcheon will announce his college decision on July 13.

The finalists remain the same in Florida State, Ohio State, SMU, Texas and USC.

“I’m getting close,” McCutcheon said of narrowing it down to one before talking about what he’s looking for in a school.

“Family fit and a place I know I’ll get developed.”

The On3 Industry tabs the four-star McCutcheon as the nation’s No. 16 receiver and No. 125 prospect overall. We are higher on him at On3 slotting him at No. 14 and No. 98 respectively.

The 6-foot, 175-pound McCutcheon had a big junior season turning 94 receptions into 1,430 yards and 20 touchdowns.

McCutcheon elaborated on each of his finalists

The Seminoles got the last official visit the weekend of June 21 and McCutcheon made it down to Tallahassee several times during his process.

“They’ve been recruiting me for a while and I love how Coach (Mike) Norvell is able to push me each and every day. I like how Coach (Ron) Dugans is and how the whole culture of the team is family fit wise and I like how the players are.”

The Buckeyes would love to add McCutcheon to a class On3 ranks No. 1 nationally. He took his official the weekend of May 31.

“The players on the team and what the coaching staff with Coach (Brian) Hartline, how much he’s developed and how much he’s done.”

SMU is in on many of the state’s best including McCutcheon who took his official for the Pony Express Weekend in mid-May.

“They’ve been recruiting me for a long time. I felt that familiar vibe with them and having teammates going there which I like a lot. With Coach (Rob) Likens and Coach (Rhett) Lashlee I like the offensive scheme and what they have planned for me.”

The Longhorns are on the short list for many of the country’s elite wide receiver prospects. They brought in McCutcheon for his official the weekend of June 14.

“I love Coach (Steve) Sarkisian with his offensive scheme and Coach (Chris) Jackson the way his personality is being up front and the way he trains his receivers in practice and the receiver room.”

McCutcheon made a few trips out West to spend time with the Trojans including his official the weekend of June 7.

“The offensive scheme with Coach (Dennis) Simmons and Coach (Lincoln) Riley and knowing they’re philosophy from OU with former players I know that went there with Marvin Mims and Nik Bonitto. Really the players there (at USC) I like a lot. They all have like-minded mindsets.”
