A Florida teenager has conducted a run and will donate money to the family of a fallen Lafayette police officer according to KLFY .

The community continues to rally around the family of Senior Corporal Segus Jolivette since he died from the injuries he received on Thursday, July 25 in a hostage standoff in Jeanerrette. The support is also being extended to his law enforcement family in Lafayette and beyond.

Our community continues to be in mourning after the death of Jolivette. Condolences have poured in from Lafayette, Acadiana, the state, and even across the nation.

A young man in Florida who has done more than 1,800 running events for fallen police officers recently did one for Jolivette. He says he continues to raise money and do these runs so that the families of those who have sacrificed everything for their communities will know that they are supported.

The teenager, Zechariah Cartledge, created the group, Running 4 Heroes . He is constantly raising money to give to the departments and the families of the men and women who have died in the line of duty. He says it’s about helping first responders and their families.

Here is a little bit more about himself and his other young friends and what they do from his website:

In 2019, Zechariah founded the Running 4 Heroes non-profit 501(c)(3). Since then, other Youth Runners have joined the cause, and together they run one mile for every First Responder who makes the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Our Youth Runners want to honor those who gave up their life so we may live in a better world.

Here is the KLFY report featuring Cartledge’s run.

On Sunday. Jolivette’s wife sent a message to our community via a heartfelt and gut-wrenching post. The couple have 5 children.
