Woodland Park Police Department Participates in Blue Envelope Program
WOODLAND PARK, NJ - As a way to help individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) gain more independence, the Woodland Park Police Department is participating in a program through the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office called the Blue Envelope program. The initiative aims to ensure officers are aware of their diagnosis during any future traffic stops. In the event of a traffic stop, this program helps officers quickly identify drivers with ASD and provides guidance on how best to communicate and interact with them.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Drivers who sign up for this free program will receive a blue envelope that explains their diagnosis and whether they are verbal or not. They will place copies of their driver's license, vehicle registration, insurance card, and a contact card with pertinent information in a blue envelope. The program packet also provides tips for ASD drivers on how to best interact with officers should their vehicle be stopped. Paterson Man Charged with Murder in Jersey City Shooting
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ - A Paterson man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in Jersey City on Friday, May 10. According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Makiyy Randolph, 21, is also charged with Felony Murder, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Randolph was arrested on Friday, July 12, on Gates Avenue in Jersey City after a brief foot pursuit. Two teenagers, a 14-year-old female and a 16-year-old male are charged as juveniles with the same crimes in connection to the incident. As previously reported, shortly before 10:00 p.m. on the day of the incident, the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of Pearsall Avenue and Garfield Avenue. Responding officers located a male victim – later identified as Resheed Wallace, 24, of Jersey City – with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. A man employed by East Stroudsburg Area School District is accused of recording his fiancée's two minor daughters in the bathroom without their knowledge. John Swineford, of East Stroudsburg, was charged in May with endangering the welfare of children, invasion of privacy, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and possessing instruments of a crime.
