Now that all NFL teams have cut their rosters to 53 active members, the Los Angeles Chargers can build their practice squad via the waiver wire. The practice squad is made up of 16 players who can be moved to the team’s game-day roster in the event of an injury or other roster movement.

On Wednesday, the Chargers were able to add one of 2024’s best undrafted free agents to their practice squad. Edge rusher, Tre’mon Morris-Brash initially signed with the team on April 27, only to be waived by the team and resigned once he cleared waiver wires.

During the Chargers’ three preseason games, Morris-Brash played 124 snaps and earned the highest Pro Football Focus grade among high-volume first-year edge rushers, 89.6. His four quarterback pressures and one sack led all of the team’s pass rushers. He recorded a modest five sacks, but impressively they were all determined to be defensive STOPs . He also returned an intercepted pass for a 25-yard touchdown.

The fifth-year senior out of UCF had an impressive college career. In his final season with the Knights, Morris Brash compiled 20.5 tackles for loss. 8.5 of which were quarterback sacks. This led to being named to the first team All-Big 12. He led all Big 12 defenders in tackles for loss.

The Chargers faced a difficult decision in the very deep edge rusher’s room. He was competing for a spot with 2023 rookie standout, Tuli Tuipulotu and veteran free agent addition Bud Dupree.

It is unclear if more teams would have been interested in him, but the Chargers are fifth on the waiver wire pecking order this year, so most didn’t get a chance to sign Morris-Brash.

But if any team is needy at this high-value position, they can sign him as long as he is added to the 53-player roster.
