DELAVAN — Lakeside Lutheran’s boys golf team qualified for sectionals by shooting 346 to place third at a Division 2 regional held at Majestic Oaks Golf Course on Wednesday, May 22.

Lakeside senior Kooper Mlsna shot 82 to tie for seventh individually. Senior Cooper Jensen added an 87 and tied for 12th. Junior Reilly Jobke (88) and sophomore Henry Moore (89) also scored for the Warriors.

“It was very windy and we played a tough course today,” Lakeside boys golf coach Craig Sonntag said. “Our guys stuck with it and stayed with their game plan and did a really nice job to qualify for the sectional.”

Lake Mills shot 355 to finish fifth, six strokes behind fourth-place Mayville, which nabbed the final team sectional berth. The L-Cats still advanced two players — junior Preston Thiede and freshman Justin Stilling — to the sectional.

Thiede shot 82 to tie for seventh and Stilling shot 85 to finish in a tie for ninth. Senior KC Hagedorn (90) and freshman Ben Nordby (98) rounded out the team’s score.

Big Foot junior Tyler Short shot 2-over 73 to claim medalist honors by five strokes and his Chiefs team shot 320 to beat host Delavan-Darien by 25 shots for the team title.

House on the Rock Resort in Spring Green hosts the sectional tournament on Tuesday, May 28.
