The Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts is just around the corner and event organizers have unveiled one of the featured exhibits for this year’s festivities.

The 61st annual festival, which will run from June 21-23 at the Lakewood Center for the Arts and George Rogers Park, will highlight an exhibit titled “The Imagination Menagerie.” In this exhibit, professional artists will incorporate animal drawings done by children into their work.

According to a Schuster Media press release, Lakewood Center for the Arts youth outreach coordinator Angie Stambuk spent a year collecting such animal drawings and the artists subsequently recreated those drawings through their own work.

“As we grapple with a creativity crisis, The Imagination Menagerie emerges as a beacon of hope, encouraging festival goers to reconnect with their imaginative essence. Through a diverse range of mediums, including painting, sculpture, music, and experiences, the Festival aims to reignite the spark of creativity that resides within each of us,” festival coordinator Natalie Wood said in the press release.

Featured artists include Addie Boswell, who specializes in murals and picture books, and Erik Sandgren, a landscape artist who often depicts the Pacific Northwest scenery.
