LAKE WORTH (1080 KRLD)- Things appear to have settled down in Lake Worth after two suspicious packages caused police to swarm an area near a busy highway, Thursday.

This all started just before noon when a suspicious package was found outside the Richie Auctioneers located off of Loop 820 just north of Azel.

Lake Worth police at first said they were shutting down the area because of "a suspicious package." Next thing, they announced one man had been detained. The identity of that suspect has been released. He is 43-year-old Donald Scott, charged with terroristic threat and retaliation (both felonies) for his involvement in today’s incident.

An hour after the first suspicious package, police said they were shutting down Boat Club Road less than a mile away after another suspicious package was found. Police said they were keeping things closed in that area as a precaution.

Roads like Loop 820 had been closed for a couple of hours. They have since reopened, but traffic is still a mess.

KRLD is trying to get more details on what exactly is going on and what's led them to shut down part of the highway.

This is a developing story. Listen to 1080 KRLD for the latest updates.
