Fredonia Duo Charged in Stockton Burglary Probe
Two Fredonia men have been charged after an investigation into a burglary in progress Thursday afternoon in the Town of Stockton. Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office investigators were notified about the incident on Moon Road at about 12:30 PM. A Sheriff's Office K-9 unit arrived on scene and located two people stealing property. The suspects, 43-year-old Derek Saxton and 51-year-old Donald Tolbert, were both taken into custody and charged with 3rd-degree burglary and 4th-degree grand larceny. Saxton and Tolbert were both arraigned at the Chautauqua County Jail's centralized arraignment.
Jamestown Airport to Receive $23,243 Grant for Enhanced Fire Safety
(WNY News Now) – Washington, D.C. – Jamestown Airport Secures Federal Grant to Boost Emergency Response. Today, Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) announced that Chautauqua County will receive a federal grant of $23,243 for the Jamestown Airport as part of the FY24 Airport Improvement Program (AIP) under the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This grant will fund the acquisition of Aqueous Film Forming Foam (fire suppressant) input-based testing equipment.
Group Seeks to Secure Ownership of Chadwick Bay Marina
The Chadwick Bay Marina in Dunkirk may soon be under new ownership. During the Chautauqua County IDA Board's monthly meeting on Tuesday, CCIDA CEO Mark Geise announced that a group of three men -- Steven St. George, Allan Steinberg and John Atzrott -- has been working with current marina owner Peter Smith on purchasing the marina. Jamestown Man Convicted in Federal Drug Case
A federal jury has found a Jamestown man guilty of drug charges that resulted from a February 2023 traffic stop in the city. U.S. Attorney Trini Ross announced Thursday that 39-year-old Jose Caceres, Jr. was convicted of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, possession of MDMA, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and maintaining a drug-involved premises. The verdict was the result of an investigation by the U.S. Probation Office, Jamestown Police Department, and DEA.
