LANSING, Mich. (WANE) – Despite grabbing an early lead, the TinCaps fell in a 2-1 loss to the Lansing Lugnuts on Wednesday night.

Jay Beshears drove in Fort Wayne’s only run of the night on a sac fly to right field. Anthony Vilar tagged up from third base to give the TinCaps a 1-0 lead.

Lansing answered back with a pair of runs in the third inning. Will Simpson smacked a RBI double to left field, driving in the go-ahead run.

Despite the loss, Fort Wayne’s pitching staff was on point. Jagger Haynes fanned seven batters while allowing two earned runs in a six-inning start. Keegan Collett finished the night with two strikeouts in two innings of relief.

The TinCaps return to Parkview Field for three more games against Lansing. First pitch for Thursday’s Fourth of July game is scheduled for 6:05 p.m., with fireworks to follow.
