Vote for the Sun-News Athlete of the Week for the week of Aug. 19-23 — 6 choices

Every week, the Las Cruces Sun-News will nominate several athletes for its Athlete of the Week award. The award highlights the best performances from Las Cruces-area schools from the previous week. This week, there are six nominees from Las Cruces, Gadsden, Centennial and Organ Mountain.

Everyone is encouraged to submit nominations to ncoppola@lcsun-news.com for each week. You can find the poll at the bottom of this page. There are no voting restrictions, so vote now and vote often.

Here are this week's nominations:

RB Daniel Amaro, Las Cruces

Amaro scored three touchdowns against Mayfield last Friday, including two rushing scores and a 58-yard punt return for a touchdown.

DB Isaac Gomez, Las Cruces

Gomez recorded a sack and an interception against Mayfield last Friday, with the interception resulting in a pick-6 touchdown.

RB Alfredo Andrade, Gadsden

Andrade provided the bulk of the Panthers' offensive production against Chapparal last Friday, rushing for 247 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries.

QB Zaiden Davis, Centennial

Davis contributed four of the Hawks' five touchdowns against Cleveland last Friday, rushing for two and throwing for two. He was Centennial's leading rusher against the Storm after registering 109 yards on the ground.

WR Jordan Lucas, Centennial

Lucas caught six passes for 106 yards and one touchdown last Friday against Cleveland.

S/RB Riley Test, Organ Mountain

Test led the Knights with eight total tackles against Eldorado last Friday and earned an interception return for a touchdown.
