Throw a stone anywhere in the heart of Las Vegas, and you're bound to hit a hotel or resort of some kind. Sin City is home to some of the most famous casino resorts in the world, and with many of these places offering cheap room rates per night (even after the hidden resort fees are tacked on), you can find decent accommodations for just about any budget.
Just make sure you double-check your reservation details before clicking "confirm." That's what this couple should have done before booking a room at the OYO Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas... or at least, what they thought was the OYO Hotel and Casino!
Make sure when you book at the OYO in vegas that its not the one on Las Vegas Blvd because that one isn’t the right one! I hope i don’t catch something! Pray for us!! #pray #prayforus #lasvegas @nellyg775
Um... I don't think that's the OYO Hotel and Casino. Like, there are definitely some Las Vegas casino resorts that have a reputation for being "sketchy and kind of gross," to use @im_off_stage 's words, but this is on another. But hey... at least there's a piece of paper over the toilet, so the room was definitely "sanitized." Also, shout-out to the ten different types of tile flooring in the bathroom... that was a choice.
The couple at least knew where they went wrong with their hotel booking fiasco. "Make sure when you book at the OYO in Vegas that it's not the one on Las Vegas Blvd, because that one isn't the right one!" warned @im_off_stage in his caption. "I hope I don't catch something! Pray for us!"
It took me a second to figure out what he was talking about, because if you Google "OYO Hotel Las Vegas," the only thing that pops up is the "right" location; the one on Tropicana Ave across the street from the MGM Grand. There's only one OYO Hotel in Las Vegas... but there is an OYO Motel (actually, there's two locations, but same chain). The OYO casino resort dominates the search results so much, I don't know how they managed to find and book the motel before the real deal!
They ended up at the OYO Oasis Motel on Las Vegas Blvd, whose listing boasts that it's "just 3 miles from Caesars Palace and 2 miles from Fremont Street Experience." For what it's worth, the pictures of the rooms on its website look significantly different (and nicer) than what they got, so that alone must have doubled their whiplash!
And while its website gives the location a three-star rating, its Google reviews tell a different story. It currently sits at 2.3 stars, and nearly all of the most recent reviews give it a one-star rating, with customers complaining of terrible hygiene and sanitation, its unsafe neighborhood, being misled by the online photos, and even alleged sketchy behavior from the hotel staff . Oof.
But hey, at least a place like that must have been dirt cheap, right? Oh boy... now we get to the trash cherry on top. "It was a last minute thought to get a room instead of driving home! We ended up paying $170 non-refundable and drove home anyway!," @im_off_stage added.
I'll say it again: OOF. At least this couple were good sports about their motel misadventure! Still, consider this a PSA to double, triple, quadruple check the location's address and all the other details before finalizing your booking. Names alone can be deceiving...
