Laurel's newest school trustee is former teacher and life-long Laurel resident
Laurel Public Schools has selected a new trustee to finish the term vacated by Dan Fettig. Kayla Gray, a former Spanish teacher at Laurel High School, will finish the final year of Fettig's term. He resigned for personal reasons. Superintendent Matt Torix said Fettig was a valuable asset to the Laurel School Board and will be missed.
Veterans picnic coming soon to South Pond
On July 13, Laurel VFW Post 3177 will host a BBQ picnic at the Lions Family Park Fishing Pond. The event is free for veterans and their families. Laurel American Legion Post 123 is also sponsoring the event. The fun starts at 12:00 p.m. and runs until 4:00 p.m.

BILLINGS--Rocky Mountain College Basketball announced Tuesday on social media that former Fergus standout Royce Robinson has signed with the Battlin' Bears. A two-sport standout at Fergus, Robinson was part of a basketball and football state championship. He averaged just over 24 points and seven rebounds per game during the Golden Eagles basketball state title run.
Billings Flying Service Wins First-Ever Type 1 Exclusive Use Contract with Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation
BILLINGS, MONTANA (July 2, 2024): Montana-based Billings Flying Service (BFS) is pleased to announce it won Montana’s Department of Natural Resources and Conservation’s first exclusive use type 1 helicopter firefighting contract. BFS is providing a tanked CH-47 Chinook helicopter with high-volume precision water drop capability for the summer fire season contract, which started July 1. The aircraft will be based in Montana, however, could be mobilized to surrounding states under a cooperative agreement in place between the US Forest Service and State of Montana.
