Lavallette hosts annual Memorial Lifeguard Tournament
LAVALLETTE — For two evenings this week, crowds packed New Brunswick Avenue beach as they spectated Lavallette Beach Patrol’s annual Lavallette Memorial Lifeguard Tournament. Despite a lingering heat wave, the two-night event drew hundreds to the hot beach, where members of various area beach patrols showed off their teamwork and lifesaving skills in both the women’s tournament on Monday and the men’s/open tournament on Tuesday.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH — A Point Pleasant Beach teenager is flying high after receiving his Private Pilot Certification, continuing what has become a family tradition of aviation. Max Esposito, 16, is now certified as a private pilot with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
