Former Kemah Mayor Accused of Perjury in Federal Lawsuit
New filings in a federal lawsuit against the City of Kemah claim former Mayor Carl Joiner has provided “perjurious statements” as the plaintiff’s attorneys have provided emails alleged to contradict an affidavit signed by Joiner and provided to the court by a Texas Municipal League (TML) attorney.
League City Invites Residents to Engage with Civic Leaders at City Council Meeting and Budget Workshop
Residents of League City have the opportunity to engage with civic leaders during the upcoming City Council meeting scheduled for 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 23. According to a recent announcement made by the City, there will also be a Budget Workshop held at 5 p.m. before the council meeting. For those unable to attend in person, the session will be available for live viewing on the City's Facebook page, and replays are set to air daily on Channel 16 at both 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.

CenterPoint Energy Faces $200 Million in Lawsuits Over Hurricane Beryl Response in Houston and Galveston
As Houston and Galveston County residents continue to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, legal pressures on CenterPoint Energy are ramping up. Michael Fertitta, notably the son of Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta, is representing complainants in a new lawsuit accusing CenterPoint of being unprepared for the hurricane, leading to widespread and prolonged power outages. This action follows the suit filed by attorney Tony Buzbee on behalf of the Galveston Restaurant Group and Houston-area businesses, with both suits collectively racking up claims to the tune of $200 million.
