Northeast College of Health Sciences aims to open a Long Island campus in Levittown for its doctor of chiropractic program as soon as this fall. The opening, pending on regulatory approvals, would mark the return of the college, whose main campus is in upstate Seneca Falls, to the metropolitan region.

The college is already accepting applications for the Levittown campus.

Founded in 1919, Northeast College got its start with its doctor of chiropractic program In Manhattan. It moved to Long Island in the 1970s, before relocating to the Finger Lakes.

The college says the new Levittown campus is in response to growing demand in the region.

“We are excited to establish this new branch campus and bring our high standards of healthcare education to Long Island, continuing in our mission of fostering excellence, leadership and best practices,” Michael Mestan, Northeast College president and a doctor of chiropractic, said in a news release about the plans for Levittown.

The Seneca Falls campus offers onsite graduate and undergraduate degrees in the health sciences: doctor of chiropractic, AAS in radiologic technology, AAS in diagnostic medical sonography, and a certificate in massage therapy. The college also offers two online master’s degrees one in applied clinical nutrition and one in human anatomy and physiology instruction. Northeast also runs several community-based health centers across New York state.

The Long Island building will share space with the college’s existing Levittown Health Center, which is a community-based clinic, and the Ernest G. Napolitano Postgraduate Center.
