Greenbrier Valley Theatre Celebrates the Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein with “Some Enchanted Evening”

LEWISBURG, WV (WVNS) — Greenbrier Valley Theatre, The State Professional Theatre of West Virginia will be opening a musical called, Some Enchanted Evening: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein , which will celebrate the greatest hits of Rodgers and Hammerstein.
The music of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II have been popular with musical theatre fans for decades. The famous duo wrote songs such as Oklahoma! , The Sound of Music , South Pacific , State Fair , and more.
Some Enchanted Evening: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein will open on Friday, June 12, 2024 and go through until Saturday, June 22, 2024. Tickets are $34 for adults, $30 for seniors, and $20 for students.
New York actor, Brandon Grimes is returning to Greenbrier Valley Theatre for the first time since 2019. At that time, Grimes was in a production of The Greenbrier Ghost . Grimes is excited to be back and celebrate the songs that helped define the “Golden Age” of musical theatre.
“The foundation of musical theatre is Rodgers and Hammerstein. So many people have deep, rich memories of The Sound of Music, or Carousel, or The King and I that were turned into lush, beautiful movies, and as you go through this show you hear these songs in their full glory,” said Grimes.
Some Enchanted Evening is tribute to Broadway history, especially with the songs of this duo. The musical will have five actors and two pianists on stage performing over 35 songs. Popular songs such as “ The Surrey with the Fringe on Top ,” “ If I Loved You ,” and “ Younger than Springtime ” will also be performed.

The Director:
Will Nash Broyles who was seen in A Christmas Carol , Pride and Prejudice , Pippin , will direct his first production at Greenbrier Valley Theatre.

Greenbrier Valley Theatre, now in its 57th season, is a theatre located in Lewisburg, WV. The establishment was described as “West Virginia Jewel of the Hills,” and was also awarded the Living the Dream Service Organization Honor Roll by The Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission, The theatre also offers year-round events, and lots of educational offers.
