    Family of 15-year-old killed by school bus in Winchester retains lawyer

    According to a release from Sam Aguiar Injury Lawyers, attorney Jon Hollan with the agency has been hired by the family of McKenna Letcher, the teen who was killed by a school bus in Winchester on Tuesday.

    "On behalf of Kenna’s mother, Kari, and extended family, she will be forever loved and missed more than words will ever explain," the release read. "Kari and the family would like to thank the members of the community for their continued outpouring of love, support and positivity in the wake of yesterday’s tragedy. The family appreciates the continued respect of their privacy at this difficult time."

    "It is my intention to respect the formal investigative process of involved law enforcement as it continues to unfold while also working diligently with our own team of investigators and experts who are in the field seeking evidence as to the tragic events of yesterday morning, Hollan stated. "We welcome anyone with additional information to contact our office directly.”

    The release noted that McKenna was a "caring, joyful, and creative child who enjoyed solving problems and aspired to become a mechanic."

    The Clark County Coroner has identified the 15-year-old who was hit and killed while crossing Veterans Memorial Parkway on Tuesday morning as McKenna Letcher.

    The Clark County Coroner has confirmed that a 15-year-old was hit and killed on Tuesday morning while trying to cross Veterans Memorial Parkway in Winchester.

    Clark County Public Schools Superintendent Dustin Howard released a statement saying the 15-year-old was a student at George Rogers Clark High School.

    The wreck was reported to involve a school bus. No other information regarding the crash has been released.

    Governor Andy Beshear released a statement on Facebook following the tragedy:

    My heart aches for the family and friends of this precious child lost in this tragedy. Please join Britainy and me in lifting up the Clark County community in prayers of peace and comfort.

    The Clark County Public Schools addressed the injury collision that occurred on Tuesday morning at Veterans Memorial Parkway and Ironworks, which reportedly involved a school bus.

    "Please keep all parties involved in your thoughts and prayers as we work through this terrible event," a post from the county schools read.

    The Winchester Police Department reports that the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Ironworks Road is closed due to an injury collision on Tuesday morning.

    According to a Facebook post, the roadway will be closed for an unknown time.
