    Kentucky man sentenced to 20 years for intentionally hitting detective with car

    WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A man accused of stealing a vehicle and hitting a Kentucky State Police detective has been sentenced.

    According to online records, Tommy Kemper was convicted of attempted murder of a police officer, theft by unlawful taking, and fleeing or evading police.

    Officers said that, in June 2023, a KSP detective was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle when Kemper intentionally struck the officer while trying to escape. He was found a couple of miles up the road from the incident and was arrested.

    Kemper was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
