LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Kentucky State Police (KSP) woke up to an exciting development on Wednesday in the 2024 Best Looking Cruiser Contest .

The American Association of State Troopers (AAST) provides regular updates on vote counts, and on Wednesday, Kentucky broke past its fiercest competitor, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). Kentucky is now leading Florida, 19,505 to 19,195.

The winning cruiser will be featured on the AAST 2024 calendar.

According to a news release, Kentucky has finished in the top five over the last five years but fell behind Florida in 2023 for the top spot. In 2024, KSP “wants to return the gators to the swamp.”

KSP’s 2024 entry features a Ford Mustang GT in front of the Secretariat statue in the roundabout at Alexandria Drive and Old Frankfort Pike in Lexington. The image pays homage to the Commonwealth’s horse culture, the 50th anniversary of Secretariat’s triple-crown win, and the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby.

“Every year, we are humbled by the outpouring of support from Kentuckians during the national best-looking cruiser contest,” said KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. “While we enjoy the fun camaraderie between the state police agencies, we’re in it to win it!”

    LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

According to KSP, voting ends on Monday. Kentuckians can vote once per device per day.
