Two Kentucky women’s basketball transfers are sidelined indefinitely

Two key pieces of Kenny Brooks’ inaugural Kentucky women’s basketball roster are sidelined — at least for the time being.

UK announced on Monday evening that incoming transfer guards Jordan Obi (Penn) and Dominika Paurová (Oregon State) are considered out indefinitely after sustaining lower leg injuries. No additional details are available at this time.

Obi, a 6-foot-1 graduate transfer, arrived in Lexington in June. She was Penn’s second-leading scorer during the 2023-24 season; she averaged 14.8 points and a team-leading 7.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. A 2024 first-team All-Ivy League and 2024 Academic All-Ivy selection, Obi surpassed 1,000 career points in 2023-24. She is one of three players on the Wildcats’ 2024-25 roster to have eclipsed the milestone during her collegiate career, along with transfer guards Georgia Amoore (Virginia Tech) and Dazia Lawrence (Charlotte).

Paurová’s injury announcement provides Big Blue Nation a bit more clarity following her early exit in Czechia’s U20 matchup against Iceland on July 14 in the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket.

The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 16.5 minutes per game during her freshman season at Oregon State, which reached the Elite Eight for the first time since 2018. Paurová averaged 5.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.5 steals over the course of 35 games.
