GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – A defendant was sentenced Wednesday in a local gun case.

Josiah Wilburn, 24, was sentenced to pay fines and be on probation for two years following his conviction on a carrying concealed weapons charge. According to court records, Wilburn also has to surrender the firearm and ammunition seized by police during the traffic stop on Feb. 25 in Liberty.

Police reports stated that Wilburn was found to have a gun that was reported to have been stolen out of Akron during that traffic stop.

Charges of receiving stolen property and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle were presented to a Trumbull County grand jury, but the grand jury did not indict Wilburn on those charges, instead sending the case back to Girard Municipal Court.
