Hayes Beginning Work With Burnett On Transition
The transition process has begun to prepare Livingston Mayor-Elect Lori Elder-Burnett to take office September 1. Mayor Curtis Hayes said he and Burnett have been meeting for several hours a week since she was elected in June. He said he has been reminding Burnett that she may not get everything overnight, she has great staffers, advisors, and consultants to lean on in the meantime.
Cookeville PD Seeks Information in 2023 Homicide of Rodney Morgan
The Cookeville Police Department is asking the public for any information in the homicide of 55-year-old Rodney Morgan. According to a press release, on October 9, 2023, at approximately 6:44am, officers responded to Skyline Drive in Cookeville regarding a single vehicle crash. Rodney Morgan, of Cookeville, was found deceased inside of the vehicle. Morgan suffered injuries consistent with an apparent gunshot wound. Before his death, Morgan was known to frequent Scooter’s Biker Bar, The 19th Hole, Bar on the Green, and Misty’s Suds and Buds.

Georgia adds Tennessee Tech to 2024-25 basketball schedule
The Georgia Bulldogs have added the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles to their 2024-25 basketball schedule, according to Rocco Miller of the Bracketeer.org. Per the report, Georgia will host Tennessee Tech on Monday, Nov. 4 at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga. The game, which will likely be the season-opener, will mark the third meeting between the two schools in basketball.

Over a third of U.S. states have detected the West Nile virus so far this year, as mosquito-transmitted diseases continue to grow their presence in the country. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, seven human cases were confirmed across seven states as of June 25. They took place in Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi and Tennessee. The rest were seen in mosquitoes, birds or other animals.
