Central Illinois Weather Update: Scattered Storms and Cooler Temperatures Ahead
Lincoln, IL – Severe thunderstorms are expected across central Illinois today, primarily south of a Taylorville to Danville line. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Lincoln issued an alert for scattered storms, which could bring damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall. Cooler and drier air is forecasted to follow, offering relief for the latter half of the week.
Demolition Has Begun At OLA But You Wouldn’t Know It By Looking At The Front Of The Building
The demolition of Our Lady of Angels in Joliet has begun. As first reported by WJOL in October of 2022 the retirement home was on life support and would be closing soon. The last residents left the building at the end of January in 2023 with a final mass held on February 11, 2023. Since then the Sisters of St. Francis nuns have held estate sales to sell furniture, pianos, office supplies and more to the public. While you can’t see the demolition from the front of the building, there is fencing surrounding the building. Gould Brothers Construction from Joliet is handling the demolition which has begun in the rear of the sprawling building at 1201 Wyoming Avenue on Joliet’s west side.
4-H events are coming to Illinois in a big way

Clark, Edgar, and Crawford counties all are having 4-H fairs over the coming weeks allowing all their members a chance to show their hard work on the projects they’ve been spending time on. 4-H members have been working on their projects in several fields from dealing with livestock of all shapes and sizes to clothing and textiles, and more. Tornado Warnings Around the Tri-Counties Illinois
A Radar indicated tornado warning has been issued for parts of Rock Island, Mercer, Whiteside and Henry Counties. The warning is currently from the Quad Cities to Atkinson but the warning is expected to extend southeast. VERY strong winds have been confirmed with these storms.
