Police Conducting Search for Suspects Who Broke into Locust Valley Gas Station, Made Off with Cash & Cigarettes
The Second Squad reports the details of a Burglary that occurred on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 3:47 am in Locust Valley. According to Detectives, Second Precinct Officers responded to Citgo Gas Station, located at 320 Forest Avenue for a Commercial Burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that an unknown subject smashed the front window and entered the store. Further investigation revealed that an undetermined amount of US currency and cigarettes had been removed from the store. The subject left the scene in an unknown direction.

The NCPD First Squad reports the arrest of a New Jersey man for an incident that occurred on Saturday, July 13, at 4:30 p.m. in Baldwin. According to detectives, officers responded to a disturbance at Coes Neck Park located at 1240 Coes Neck Road. Upon arrival, officers were informed that defendant Horace Rattigan, 36, of 15 Montclair Avenue, Paterson was involved in a verbal argument with a female victim, 39, and removed the victim’s cell phone and fled the scene on foot. Officers located the defendant nearby and attempted to place him into custody. Defendant Rattigan became violent and combative, and after a brief struggle, officers were able to secure the defendant. An officer sustained an injury during the course of the arrest and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment. Further investigation revealed the defendant had violated an active order of protection. Defendant Horace Rattigan is charged with second-degree assault, second-degree criminal contempt, fourth-degree grand larceny, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. He was arraigned on Sunday, July 14, at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
NCPD: Baldwin Man Arrested After Allegedly Running Nearly $400K Scam on Elderly Long Island Man
The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Baldwin man for an Elder Scam / Grand Larceny that occurred on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 in North New Hyde Park. According to detectives, a 73-year-old male victim received a notification on his computer stating that his device had been compromised and he needed to contact the number provided to protect his assets. The victim contacted an unknown subject who claimed to work for the Federal Trade Commission and was instructed to purchase six gold bars totaling approximately $390,000 from JM Bullion. The victim complied and an unknown male in an unknown vehicle arrived at his residence to retrieve the gold bars.
