School districts work to fill teacher openings as first day of classes approach

DeKalb County Opens Cooling Centers in Response to Excessive Heat Forecast
In anticipation of National Weather Service predictions of heat indices surpassing 100 degrees, DeKalb County will open cooling centers on Tuesday, July 16. Residents can access a list of available cooling centers by visiting www.dekalbcountyga.gov/weather. DeKalb County’s recreation centers and libraries will function as cooling centers during their regular business hours, offering accessible water fountains. Additionally, each recreation center will have a designated cooling room, and pools will be open to the public free of charge from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
