BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, Sr. Tpr. E.M. Shafer and Sgt. K.D. Harper responded to Tawney Road in the Lick Creek area of Boone County, WV, regarding two males burning copper near a natural gas drip line.

The males fled before the officer’s arrival. During further investigation, these officers identified one male, Jeremy Justice, who traveled to his residence a short distance away from Lick Creek Road. Upon meeting with Jeremy Justice and the second male, Bradley Schwan, these officers observed a large amount of what appeared to be stolen mine equipment scattered around the property. A search warrant for the property was executed, and a large amount of stolen mine equipment, tools, and copper from the Honey Island Mine in the Robinson area of Boone County, WV, was located.

Breedlove’s Wrecker Service transported the stolen items, and a representative from Honey Island Mine will recover the items and produce a total value of the recovered equipment, tools, and copper.

Jeremy Justice, 43, of Danville, WV, was arrested and charged with Breaking other than a Dwelling and transported to the Southwestern Regional Jail.

The status of this investigation remains active and ongoing.
