    Man sets house on fire with sister inside

    POINT PLEASANT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia State Police have released details regarding an incident over the weekend in which a man set fire to a residence with his sister inside.

    West Virginia State Police Deputy Chief of Staff, Captain R. A. Maddy reports that on Saturday, August 10, 2024, S/TprJ.L. Cavender with the WVSP responded to a 330 Cherry Drive residence regarding an arson complaint which stemmed from an arson complaint.

    A suspect, 42-year-old Jason Ray Blankenship is said to have assaulted his sister – identified as Terri Lynn Vanhoosean – in two instances, resulting in injuries.

    Blankenship is then said to have set fire to a residence with his sister inside. The victim successfully escaped without additional injuries.

    The suspect fled the scene but was successfully apprehended by authorities without incident. He was transported to the Western Regional Jail and faces charges of First Degree Murder, Malicious Assault, and First Degree Arson.
