Wyoming County man convicted of grand larceny

WYOMING COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wyoming County man has been convicted of grand larceny.

Jessie Tolliver, 45, of Wyoming, pleaded guilty on August 12, 2024, to one count of grand larceny. Tolliver’s sentencing is scheduled for October 2024.

The case stems from an incident on October 28, 2023, when Sergeant Tyler Sizemore of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department responded to a fight complaint in East Pineville.

Upon arriving at the scene, Sgt. Sizemore spoke with the victims of a breaking and entering, who had been alerted by a concerned citizen that Tolliver was inside their newly purchased and renovated laundromat.

The victims confronted Tolliver and discovered him in possession of their plumbing tools, valued at over $1,000.

Tolliver fled the scene on foot but was subsequently detained by Sgt. Sizemore, who observed him fleeing. Tolliver later admitted to the crime.

Wyoming County Prosecutor Gregory Bishop highlighted the case as an example of effective cooperation between citizens and law enforcement.

“This is a good example of citizens working with law enforcement to detect criminal activity and solve crime,” Bishop stated. “I cannot overemphasize the importance of citizens working hand in hand with law enforcement to create and maintain a safe community.”

The prosecution was led by Wyoming County Assistant Prosecutor Derek Laxton.

Sgt. Tyler Sizemore and Captain Tommy Blankenship of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department conducted the investigation.
