AMITE—A Hammond man has been sentenced to 20 years at hard labor after pleading no contest to a series of domestic abuse-related charges. 21st Judicial District Attorney Scott Perrilloux said that Michael Anthony Gutter, 40, of Hammond has pleaded no contest to one count of possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of domestic abuse battery, two counts of domestic abuse aggravated assault, one count of domestic abuse battery - third offense, and one count of false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon.

PONCHATOULA - A man was arrested after a shooting on July 13 left one victim injured, according to the Ponchatoula Police Department. Police were dispatched to TJ's Tobacco Store in reference to shots being fired and, upon arrival, found a victim in the parking lot with three apparent gunshot wounds. Two arrested for vehicle burglaries in Ponchatoula
On July 18, 2024, Ponchatoula Police responded to multiple calls regarding suspicious activity in the area of Beech Street. Upon arrival, officers were able to locate one male juvenile and 18-year-old Tyler Anthony Kimble. Upon further investigation, it was learned that a firearm was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the same area. Detectives were able to locate and recover the stolen firearm. Kimble was arrested for the following charges and transported to Tangipahoa Parish jail.
