Hall-of-Famer James Worthy Takes Shot At Lakers' Rumored NBA Draft Pursuit Of Bronny James

James Worthy is a North Carolina Tar Heels alumnus and one of the greatest players in Los Angeles Lakers franchise history who formed a devastating one-two punch for opposing teams with Magic Johnson in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Worthy has focused on broadcasting since retiring, and is not afraid to speak his mind when he feels the occasion calls for it.

On Monday, Worthy had sharp criticisms for the Lakers' front office prior to the team's introduction of the JJ Redick as its head coach that are just now making the rounds.

The Lakers hold the #17 and #55 picks in Wednesday and Thursday's 2024 NBA Draft but Worthy does not appear to be excited by the prospect of his former team selecting LeBron James' son Bronny, who averaged 4.8 points per game as a freshman with the USC basketball program.

"Well he's the greatest young player ever right now, Bronny, that's what I'm going to say," Worthy appeared to sarcastically state according to LakersDaily.com .

Worthy also appeared to take a shot at the Lakers' front office staff for not building through its young core of players the same way that Celtics GM Brad Stevens did leading up to their record-setting 18th championship, which overtook the Lakers for number one all-time in the NBA.

"They did it right," Worthy said.

"They took their time. They waited, while we were trading (Brandon) Ingram, (Julius) Randle, (Kentavious Caldwell) Pope gone, brotha up in Sacramento (Malik) Monk gone...And then we weren't getting anything for it, (Russell) Westbrook gone.

"The ink will lead back to the problem," Worthy concluded.
