Dalton Knecht Reveals Honest Thoughts On Playing With LeBron James

The Los Angeles Lakers made a massive move in the 2024 NBA Draft, grabbing their biggest need in sharpshooter Dalton Knecht with the No. 17 overall pick. Knecht spoke about the opportunity to play with two NBA greats, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, just after crossing the draft stage.

“A dream come true to hear my name get called and I’m super excited to go to LA and go play with Bron and AD," said Knecht via Lakers Lead on X.

Knecht was a monster for the Tennessee Volunteers last season. He played just one season in Knoxville, posting 21.7 points and 4.9 rebounds. Prior to being a star for the Vols, Knecht made his mark at the Division 2 level at Northern Colorado and Junior College level at Northeastern.

The Lakers acquired Knecht in surprising fashion, given the 23-year-old's Top-10 grade. General manager Rob Pelinka explained that the team had Knecht in their Top 10 prospects and never expected the Tennessee product to be available outside of the lottery.

Knecht now joins a team that's looking to win now, with first-year head coach JJ Redick. He'll play alongside James and Davis and will surely have many opportunities to catch and shoot with those talented stars.

He seems extremely excited to be a part of the organization, calling it a "dream come true."
