Woj Drops NBA Truth Bomb Amid LeBron James 'Nepotism' Accusations

Veteran NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski came to the defense of LeBron James amid accusations that he used his influence to get his elder son, Bronny James, drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers.

On Day 2 of the 2024 NBA Draft, the Lakers officially selected Bronny with the 55th overall pick. While it was a momentous occasion for the James family and the league, it didn’t sit well with some critics who found it unfair that an unproven player got a shot at the pros.

The decision quickly sparked talks of nepotism, with LeBron taking the brunt of the online criticism.

Woj, nonetheless, slammed the hate directed toward LeBron and emphasized that nepotism has been prevalent in the NBA for a long time. So why did it suddenly become an issue when it involves the Lakers superstar?

"People talking about nepotism. The NBA is full of nepotism. The ownership level, front offices, coaching. I don't want to hear about it all of a sudden because Bronny James' father plays for the Lakers. It is rampant in this league," Woj said during the ESPN's broadcast of the draft.

Unfortunately for LeBron, despite Woj's defense, the "nepotism" talks will likely continue to follow him with the Lakers until Bronny proves that he's deserving of a spot on an NBA roster.

At the end of the day, hopes are high that Bronny can prove his doubters wrong and show everyone he belongs in the league.
