Lakers Linked To Klay Thompson Following Contract Report

Guard Klay Thompson's time with the Warriors appears to be over, but he might not need to leave California to find his next NBA home.

The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to be one of the contenders to land the four-time NBA champion, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

LA Times reporter Brad Turner described Thompson as "intrigued" by the idea of playing with LeBron James.

Last season, Thompson averaged 17.9 points per game on 43.2 percent shooting, including 38.7 percent from distance.

While his performance declined, he's still an excellent three-point shooter who can contribute significantly to a champion contender.

If the Lakers were to add Thompson, it would add even more intrigue to James' (usually epic) battles with Warriors guard Stephen Curry.

Los Angeles hired former ESPN NBA commentator JJ Redick as its head coach this offseason, and he's already discussed wanting the Lakers to shoot more threes after ranking 28th in three-point rate in 2023-24.

Thompson would be another logical addition after selecting former Tennessee sharpshooter Dalton Knecht in the NBA Draft.
