Dodgers Star Teoscar Hernandez Makes MLB History In Home Run Derby

The Los Angeles Dodgers have accomplished a lot in their storied history. World Series titles, All-Star players, MVPs and Cy Young winners, they've had it all. Well, almost all. Surprisingly, the Dodgers have never had a player of theirs win the Home Run Derby.

That changed this year, as outfielder Teoscar Hernandez became the first ever Dodgers player to win the Home Run Derby.

Hernandez faced off against Kansas City Royals star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. in the finals of the Derby. It ended up being a close affair, as Witt hit 13 homers while the Dodgers star hit 14 home runs to claim the trophy.

Hernandez, a first-time competitor in the Home Run Derby, faced some stiff competition on the way to the crown. He eliminated Philadelphia Phillies slugger Alec Bohm in the semifinals, and had to stave off star hitters like Marcell Ozuna, Gunnar Henderson, Adolis Garcia, and Pete Alonso in the first round.
