D’Angelo Russell's Cryptic Post Raises Eyebrows Amid Trade Buzz

The Los Angeles Lakers have not had a great offseason. They missed out on a number of big free agency possibilities and also failed to land another star via the trade market.

As a result, the options are quickly dwindling for the Lakers, and it looks like they might start the 2024-2025 season with a lot of the same pieces that were on the team last year.

However, Lakers point guard D'Angelo Russell is still a name that pops up in various trade rumors , although nothing has materialized as of now.

On Sunday, Russell sure raised plenty of eyebrows with yet another cryptic post on X.

"The message."

That's all Russell posted on social media, nothing else.

Another thing to note is he hasn't posted on X since July 29, and even then, that was a quote tweet emoji reaction to an old Sports Science clip of his own.

Russell did exercise his $18.7 million option to remain in LA, but he has been a consistent piece in a number of different trade rumblings for the past year.

As such, Russell's post on X surely caught the attention of Lakers fans as well.

"Please make me the happiest man in the world rn and announce you’re getting traded," one fan wrote. Another said, "That you getting traded?!?!" Another fan said, "DLO speaking cryptic now?"

And, of course, the ever-so-famous eyeball emojis came out.

It remains to be seen what the Lakers decide to do, if anything. But D'Angelo Russell could very well be on the move again if Rob Pelinka and company find a suitable trade package.
