Join the Fun: Kids' Quilting Workshop at Museum of Southern Jewish Experience

Attention young crafters and history enthusiasts! The Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience is hosting a unique event that promises to be both educational and fun. The "Community Quilting for Kids" workshop is set to take place on Sunday, May 19th, from 1pm to 2pm at the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience, located at 818 Howard Ave, New Orleans, LA.

This engaging event is tailored for children aged 4 to 14 and marks the kickoff for the "Stitched Apart, Sewn Together" MSJE Community Quilt project. Participants will not only learn the basics of quilting but also have the chance to contribute to a significant piece of art. Each child will create a felt square to take home and design a cotton square that will become part of the museum's new community quilt, inspired by the historic 1885 Crazy Quilt from Canton, Mississippi.

The 1.5-hour workshop is a fantastic opportunity for kids to gain a hands-on crafting skill and contemplate their place within the Southern Jewish narrative. While the event is designed for young crafters, children under the recommended age are welcome with caregiver assistance.

The cost for non-members is $10 per child, and for MSJE members, it's just $5 per child. The museum strives for inclusivity and encourages anyone for whom the cost is a barrier to reach out to the Public Programs Manager for assistance.
