    High school football: Coronado's Finch rushes for 287 to lead Lubbock-area top performers

    Here are the top performers from Week 1 in Lubbock-area high school football:

    Demarion Finch, Coronado

    Finch ran for 287 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries, an average of 9.9 yards per attempt, in a win over Wichita Falls Legacy.

    David Aguirre, New Deal

    Aguirre recorded six catches for 189 yards and two TDs in a win over Farwell. He also ran four times for 59 yards and a score. On defense, Aguirre had nine tackles (seven solo), an interception and a fumble recovery.

    Michael Dever, Lubbock-Cooper

    Dever made eight catches for 149 yards and two TDs in a win over Lucas Lovejoy. He also had a 93-yard kickoff return TD.

    Wyatt Holmstrom, Seminole

    Holmstrom completed 24 of 29 passes for 285 yards and three TDs in a win over Canyon West Plains. He added 66 rushing yards and a score.

    Nathan Martens, Muleshoe

    Martens was 13 of 17 passing for 206 yards and five TDs in a win over Brownfield.

    Gavin Broome, Plains

    Broome completed 20 of 33 passes for 274 yards and three TDs in a loss to Ralls. He also ran for 147 yards and two scores on 22 carries.

    Jordan Martinez, Tahoka

    Martinez ran 12 times for 158 yards and three TDs in a win over San Angelo TLCA.

    Caton Cramer, Seminole

    Cramer rushed 22 times for 111 yards and three TDs. He caught three passes for 33 yards.

    E.J. Rivas, Morton

    Rivas caught five passes for 163 yards and two TDs in a win over Seagraves.

    Treven Cooper, New Deal

    Cooper ran for 125 yards and two TDs on 25 carries.

    Maddox Ellis, Plainview

    Ellis caught eight passes for 122 yards and two TDs in a loss to Canyon Randall.

    Isaiah Ruiz, Olton

    Ruiz ran 117 yards and two TDs on 19 carries in a win over Sudan.

    Jonathan Armstrong, Farwell

    Armstrong was 9 of 20 passing for 204 yards, two TDs and an interception. She ran 12 times for 101 yards.

    Yahir Quezada, Muleshoe

    Quezada made five catches for 115 yards and two TDs.

    Reese Williams, Ropes

    Williams had four catches for 114 yards and two TDs in a win over Hale Center.

    Zach Soliz, Plainview

    Soliz totaled 11 tackles (eight solo), including one for a loss. He also recorded one interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

    Brogan Stone, Tahoka

    Stone was 7 of 8 passing for 153 yards and three TDs.

    Jackson Austin, Lubbock-Cooper

    Austin rushed 24 times for 116 yards, adding two catches for 34 yards and a TD.

    Ryan Rodriguez, Lubbock-Cooper

    Rodriguez was 13 of 15 passing for 209 yards, three TDs and an interception.

    Seth Mayberry, Plainview

    Mayberry completed 19 of 34 passes for 249 yards, two TDs and an interception.

    Dante Chavez, Morton

    Chavez went 8 of 14 passing for 218 yards and two TDs.

    Braylon Ward, Plains

    Ward caught seven passes for 129 yards and a TD.

    Ian Mendez, Littlefield

    Mendez ran 12 times for 93 yards and two TDs in a win over Lamesa.

    Mauricio Herrera, Muleshoe

    Herrera had a team-high seven catches for 85 yards and two TDs.

    Steven Hernandez, Tahoka

    Hernandez recorded seven tackles, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

    Xavier Jimenez, Lockney

    Jimenez ran 14 times for 93 yards and caught a 10-yard pass in a loss to Stinnett West Texas. He also made 10 tackles (six solo), including one for a loss.

    Ryder McElroy, Farwell

    McElroy made three catches for 107 yards and a TD.

    Kade Franklin, Ropes

    Franklin completed 10 of 13 passes for 162 yards, three TDs and an interception.

    Dallas Sumner, New Deal

    Sumner was 9 of 16 passing for 209 yards and two TDs. He also rushed four times for 20 yards.

    Chip Green, Littlefield

    Green threw for 234 yards, two TDs and one interception.

    Raymond Ramirez, Olton

    Ramirez was 7 of 13 passing for 100 yards, adding 100 rushing yards on 19 carries.

    Dyllan Thiebaud, Lockney

    Thiebaud completed 5 of 11 passes for 114 yards and a TD. He added 54 rushing yards and a score on five carries.

    Kaden Riker, Ropes

    Riker recorded seven tackles, including two for a loss, and a sack.

    Jordan Hicks, Tahoka

    Hicks ran 10 times for 107 yards.

    Brayden Villarreal, Morton

    Villarreal ran for 54 yards and two TDs.

    Eizeah Coleman, Littlefield

    Coleman caught eight passes for 84 yards and a TD.

    Logan McCormick, Seminole

    McCormick made six catches for 76 yards and a TD.

    Taden Logan, Shallowater

    Logan ran for a team-high 75 yards and a TD in a win over Monahans.

    Matthew Peters, Seminole

    Peters had six catches for 75 yards and a TD.

    Cub Patton, Lubbock-Cooper

    Patton converted 5 of 5 extra points and his only field-goal attempt. He also had three touchbacks and a successful fake punt.
