LUBBOCK, Texas — A report from the Lubbock Police Department on Friday revealed more information about what led to a stabbing at a restaurant in the 3200 block of 4th Street before a SWAT callout at a nearby apartment complex.
A redacted report obtained by EverythingLubbock.com stated on June 21, officers were called to Blue Sky at 12:46 p.m. Several reporting parties called police and said an employee at Blue Sky had stabbed another staff member. When officers arrived, several Texas Forest Service employees were providing first aide to the victim.
According to the report, the stabbing happened in the kitchen of the restaurant. The victim told police he took a dish over to Eddie Casias, 18, who seemed “visibly upset.” According to the report, the victim told police he asked Casias if he was okay. The victim said Casias responded with something to the effect of, “What is that supposed to mean?”

The victim told Casias he was just making sure he was okay and walked back to his workstation. According to the report, the victim told police the next thing he knew, Casias was “rushing him with a kitchen knife.” The report said the victim was stabbed at least three times.
LPD said Casias ran from the restaurant to his apartment in the 200 block of Indiana Avenue. When officers got to his apartment, Casias refused to exit. SWAT and negotiators responded to the scene and were able to talk Casias into leaving his apartment.
Casias was taken into Custody at 3:16 p.m., according to police. Casias was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center. As of Friday, Casias remained jailed on a $75,000 bond.
The victim was awake and in stable condition when he spoke to police at the hospital, according to the report.
