HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – A Lynnville woman wanted on neglect charges was arrested after police say she was driving a stolen U-Haul.

According to an affidavit, officers were on patrol in the area of US 41 and the Lloyd Expressway when they saw a U-Haul traveling westbound. A BMV status check revealed it was stolen out of Glasgow, Kentucky on July 12.

Officers conducted a felony stop after the U-Haul turned into a parking lot.

The driver was identified as Melissa Hargrave, 37. Hargrave said her three children were also in the van. Police state none of the children were buckled in and no car seat was found.

Records indicate Hargrave was originally wanted out of Warrick County for Neglect of a Dependent.

EPD says a red and white baggie was found inside the driver’s door that had a clear, crystal-like substance. The officer and a field test identified the substance as methamphetamine. EPD also says two of the children were right next to the baggie.

The affidavit states the Indiana Department of Child Services was called to the scene where they took custody of the children.

Hargrave was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on multiple charges.
