MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — Machesney Park Police arrested Ian Johnson, 30, for alleged aggravated assault among other charges.

On July 4th, around 6:56 p.m., police responded to the 7900 block of Mildred Road for a domestic call.

Witnesses told officials he said, “Anyone that comes to my house, I will cut their throat.” after he threatened multiple people with a knife during a cookout.

Police tried to call Johnson out of the residence but he was not complying. Officials entered the residence and located the suspect in his bedroom.

He put the knife down and was detained, according to court documents. Authorities said Johnson was under the influence during the incident.

Johnson is being charged with assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, causing a child to be endangered and disorderly conduct.
