    Outdoor Concert in Downtown Madison To Take Place July 19

    Madison, NJ –  Summer concerts sponsored by the Madison Downtown Development Commission (DDC) return this summer for music and fun starting on June 21! Enjoy a FREE night of music this summer on Fridays from 6-8pm on the lawn of the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts (METC) and at the Rose Pavilion at the Madison Community Arts Center (MCAC). Bring your own chair or blanket to sit and listen to some great performances on METC’s lawn. Packing a picnic dinner or getting takeout from one of the many fabulous local restaurants is encouraged.

    METC will be open for visits during the concerts. Dogs are always welcome to hang out and enjoy the outdoor concerts, but but please only service dogs inside the museum.

    The summer lineup includes:

    July 19- King’s Road Band – METC

    Formed in 2011 and named after the historic New Jersey toll road between Madison and Chatham, the Kings Road Band plays an appealing blend of pop and rock with harmony vocals and melodic instrumentation. Drawing on a spiritual friendship and the joy of playing music, members include Diane Smith Kirsh (vocals, percussion), a voice coach and session vocalist whose work has included jingles in popular commercials, and holiday recordings; Doug Owen (electric guitar, vocals), a former middle school educator now pursuing various musical projects; Mike O'Keeffe (acoustic guitar, vocals), who has been performing music since college; Fred Kornfeind (bass guitar) who has performed with Kings Road since 2022 after moving to NJ from Los Angeles and has played in a variety of bands over the years; and newest member, Vin Marmorato (drums) who has played with NJ bands Fantasy and Crabdaddy, backed Lisa Coppola, and was a percussionist for the Metropolitan Orchestra of NJ.

    July 26 - The Bottle Hill Big Band – Rose Pavilion

    The Bottle Hill Big Band is a nineteen-piece ensemble with a repertoire that spans the classics from the 1930’s and 1940’s through the big band music of today. They honor the music of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and other greats, and more recent artists like Chuck Mangione, and Maynard Ferguson.

    August 2- The C3 Soul Revue METC

    The C3 Soul Revue is a band from different musical avenues who share a love of music and entertaining the masses. This eclectic group of musicians love playing various styles of music to entertain folks near and far the tri-state area. Band members include Rich Boland – Vocals, Electric Guitar; Sarah Brasfield – Vocals; Mike Calderella – Drums; Michael Pacifico – Trumpet, Vocals; Ed Stern – Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Vocals; Terry Thomas – Tenor Saxophone, Vocals; Donna Tromans – Keys, Vocals; Pat Tromans –Bass Guitars.

    August 9 - Pyrenesia – Rose Pavilion

    Pyrenesia is an acoustic swing quartet founded on the banks of the Delaware River, combining original compositions and singer-songwriter melodies with the Django Reinhardt-inspired tradition of gypsy jazz. Prolific composers and performers, Pyrenesia delivers foot-stomping, dress-swirling, hand-clapping experiences to lift spirits and transport listeners to a musical landscape as vast as the Pyrenees mountains are high.

    August 16- South Street Live METC

    South Street Live classic rock band has been playing in the Chatham area since 2005. The band has a wide repertoire of songs ranging from the 70's to today's contemporary hits, from Chicago, to Credence Clearwater Revival to Lizzo. The father and son horn section along with a stable of six vocalists results in a song list that is broad and deep and guarantees music that will get you dancing and singing along.

    August 23 - Forbidden Tropics – Rose Pavilion

    Forbidden Tropics is an Afro-Peruvian Jazz band from New Jersey led by guitarist/composer Alejandro Ataucusi. Their compositions blend Afro-Peruvian rhythms such as Festejo, Lando, Zamacueca, and Panalivio with harmonic elements of Jazz. The current band members are Alejandro Ataucusi (guitar), Robbie Sko (keyboards). James Nascimento (bass), David Greiff (Afro-Peruvian percussion), and Mike Dick (drums).

    August 30 – What’s What METC

    Local Madison band What‘s What, brings solid musicianship and fun vibes to up-tempo rock music from the 70’s and 80’s. Their spirited performance of classic songs from artists like Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, Jackson Browne, Cheap Trick and Van Halen merge seamlessly with music from the MTV video revolution. The band features Phil Duffy on vocals and guitar, Mike Shugrue on bass and vocals, Tom Doherty on lead guitar and Bill Geyer on drums. Make What‘s What a lively part of your fantastic night Downtown!

    September 6 – Double Billing: Nick Kits and Amanda Greatorex – Rose Pavilion

    New music from two young voices:

    Nick Kits 6:00-7:00 pm- Madison resident Nick Kits is a songwriter/producer/engineer who makes music to express his ideas as a universalist and young naturalist. Nick draws inspiration from The Beatles, John Mayer, The 1975, and many others to create guitar driven-singer/songwriter music that he hopes will leave audiences with a sense of connection to each other and the world around them.

    Amanda Greatorex 7:15-8:15 pm- Amanda Greatorex hails from Middletown NJ. With a degree in music from the prestigious University of North Texas College of Music and ten-plus years of professional performing under her belt, this New Jersey native exudes confidence and style with an ease that only a seasoned voice can possess.  Influenced by all the jazz greats, as well as pop and R&B such as Bonnie Raitt, Norah Jones, Michael Jackson, H.E.R, India Arie, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Moonchild, and many others, Amanda’s voice has a well-rounded familiarity and refreshingly mature vocabulary.

    Museum of Early Trades & Crafts Explore American history with a focus on the life and stories of 18th- and 19th- century craftsmen and artisans. Drawing on its rich collection, METC is connecting the lives of people and their stories, while providing a bridge from the past to the future. Housed in a stunning Richardsonian Romanesque Revival building donated by D. Willis James to the people of Madison, NJ in 1900, METC offers something for visitors of all ages. Regular METC admission is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors, students & children 6 and older, and free for members and children under 6. Family maximum admission $15.00.  METC is open Tuesday – Saturday 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. and Sunday Noon to 5 P.M. Closed Monday & Major Holidays. The museum is closed on Sundays in July & August.
