WVU to develop at-home apnea detection device
West Virginia University (WVU) researchers, supported by a U.S. National Science Foundation grant, are developing an at-home sleep apnea detection device. The device uses artificial intelligence to analyze data collected via a smartphone or tablet app. The prototypes are similar to a watch or pulse oximeter and can indicate the severity of sleep apnea and suggest whether patients need treatment or lifestyle changes. Using the device would replace lengthy overnight assessments at sleep facilities.
Mon Health Medical Center Auxiliary hosts Christmas in July fundraiser

Morgantown boy suffers seizure at the pool, parents praise medical team, lifeguards for saving his life
MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) - An 11-year-old Morgantown boy was saved after having a seizure in the Krepps Pool recently. When Elizabeth Pauley heard three whistles from the pool’s lifeguards, she knew something wasn’t right and saw a boy being pulled from the pool. She instantly recognized his swim trucks and realized it was her son, Jackson.
Examining the recruitments of the remaining WVU summer official visitors
West Virginia hosted 41 official visitors over the summer but with many of them already declaring their college intentions. The Mountaineers hosted three separate weekends of prospects over the summer and with several of those visitors remaining on the board WVSports.com takes a look at the latest with each of them.
West Virginia’s secondary has no excuses in 2024 – It’s do or die
Roll back the clock to the 2020 season, the second year on the job for head coach Neal Brown. The starting secondary consisted of Tykee Smith, Sean Mahone and Alonzo Addae at the three safety spots, and Dreshaun Miller and Nicktroy Fortune at cornerback. That's a unit that allowed just 159.6 passing yards per contest across the shortened, 10-game COVID season… a number that ranked No. 1 in all of college football. But things have fallen apart since then on the defensive side of the ball. The following season's iteration had its issues, but was still treading water. But these past two years, it's been a total collapse in the backend of the defense.

Darian DeVries has built a roster of 11 scholarship players in Morgantown so far, and is still looking to fill those final two spots (with presumably big men). 10 of those players are newcomers, with the only returnee being sophomore wing Ofri Naveh, who scored just 2.6 points per game last season as a freshman on a bad West Virginia squad.
Demolition set soon for Richwood Avenue redevelopment in Morgantown
