The League of Women Voters of Maine is looking for volunteers to serve as nonpartisan election observers for the June 11 primary.

“We deploy these volunteers to polling locations to check on the conditions, help resolve any issues, talk to poll workers, and offer our gratitude,” the League wrote in an email message Wednesday.

The program is in its fifth year and hopes to deploy observers at more polling places than previous years across all 16 counties. Volunteers — whether it’s your first time or not — need to attend a training session before the election, but election day assignments are flexible based on a person’s availability.

People who would like to volunteer can fill out an online interest form . Anyone is eligible to be an observer.

There will be a virtual training session at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, but the League said it can schedule alternative options for those who may have a scheduling conflict.
